Time To Let Off A Little STE(A)M!

I was asked if I would like to teach STEM next year and I did not hesitate to say YES! I have always had an interest in this subject and have saved information from different resources from my gifted classes just incase I need them. Each of the areas will be fun to teach but I am glad to have a co-teacher for this adventure in Deb who will be my math backup! We have already decided we would like to add the "a" for fine arts to make it STEAM. I attended a keynote talk this year at NETA and the speaker talked about having our students become self learners, creators and innovators so they can succeed in the workforce of the future. I feel that STE(A)M will be an important class to introduce the students to ways they can become these type of learners. I also will be introducing Genius Hour which will be a another way for students to spend time on what they would like to learn and to develop a passion for learning. Students will have the semester to work on their projects to be presented at the end of the semester. All in all I can't wait for this next school year.
